Recruiting and Training Volunteers
FMHI has recruited and trained a number of PPD survivors to respond
to the 1-877-PPD-MOMS warmline. Each woman was interviewed by Dr.
Wittenberg with the purpose of determining whether this kind of
activity might be detrimental to the volunteer. The telephone calls
are very powerful reminders of how the volunteers themselves felt.
We did not want these women to be overwhelmed. The recruiting took
place online and the training was conducted as a conference call.
We hope to be able to start a program of peer support groups and
have a number of grant applications that have been sent in.
